1. One Street, Four Artists

In a small street, four tailors ran their own shops, sewing clothes. Each had talent and finesse —
But each one wanted to outshine the others, to be seen as the greatest.

Every day, they argued over small things —
“My cut is better!” “My stitching is exquisite!” “My customers are special people!”

2. The First Tailor – Seeker of the City's Fame

One day, the first tailor decided to get ahead of everyone.

He had a large signboard made and had it boldly written:

“The Best Tailor in the City”

People read it, paused to look, some even stepped inside…
And business began to pick up.

3. The Second Tailor – The Race for Highness

The second tailor couldn’t stay silent. He thought,
“If he’s the best in the city, then I’m even greater!”

So, he had a new board made with the words:

“The Best Tailor in the Country”

Now, the competitive atmosphere in the street grew even hotter!

4. The Third Tailor – Competing with the World

When the third tailor saw all this, he was furious.

With great pride, he had this written on his door:

“The Best Tailor in the World”

He now saw himself as the world champion of tailoring.

5. The Fourth Tailor – Crowned with Simplicity

The fourth tailor watched all the noise, claims, and showmanship…

He put up no large board, used no grand words.

He simply wrote a short sentence on a small piece of paper and posted it outside his shop:

“The Best Tailor on This Street”

No exaggeration. No pretense. Just sincerity, realism, and simplicity.

And that simplicity touched the hearts of the people.
Customers preferred the place with less boasting and more truth.

Moral of the Story:

Greatness can be achieved by staying within your limits.

We don’t need to rule the whole world —
True success lies in becoming the best within your own space through honesty, effort, and sincerity.

❝ Don’t make your world so big that you lose yourself in it —
Do something in your little street that the world remembers you for! ❞

Light from the Wisdom of Imam Ali (AS)

Amirul Momineen, Imam Ali (AS), said:

❝ It is enough for a person to be ignorant that he becomes arrogant about himself. ❞
(Nahj al-Balagha)

Final Lesson:

You don’t need to reach the sky to make yourself great —
Walking humbly on the ground with truth, skill, and humility is the true elevation.
